Moving into the District?

If you are moving into the SPS district boundaries, you do NOT need to request a transfer; you just need to enroll at SPS. Our staff will contact your school to request your student's records.

Transfers

At Stillwater Public Schools, we champion academic and personal growth for every student and do our best to accommodate students wishing to transfer to or within our district whenever possible. The district makes decisions about student transfers in accordance with the Stillwater Board of Education SPS Board Open Transfer Policy and Oklahoma state law.  Please review the Oklahoma State Department of Education’s Parent’s Guide to Student Transfers. It will answer many common questions about student transfers.

Out-of-District Transfers

Consideration of applications:

  • Based on district-established capacities, listed below on this page.

  • Transfers for siblings are considered separately.

Transfers into the district may be denied based on:

  • Capacity

    • Not applicable to children of active-duty military personnel or SPS employees 

  • Attendance 
  • Disciplinary incidents.

Accepted transfers do not have to reapply each year. However, these transfers will be evaluated annually and could be revoked for attendance and/or discipline.

Please note:

  • Transfer students must abide by eligibility requirements established by the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association (OSSAA) for OSSAA-sanctioned activities.

  • Transportation cannot be provided for transfer students.

In-District Transfers

SPS offers in-district transfers for students enrolled in our elementary schools. 

Residency will be verified annually at Enrollment Verification.

Anticipating a move? Applications for each school year will open on January 1 at the OSDE website. This allows the district to consider large number of transfer requests. A determination may not be made until summer.

Please note: 

  • If you move into one of our elementary school zones, you may enroll at that site regardless of its listed capacity for grades K-5. PreK capacity, however, may be limited.
  • Transportation cannot be provided.
