What Is the FAFsa?

To be considered for federal aid (grants, work-study, & loans) students must complete the

Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Colleges use information reported on the FAFSA to determine federal aid eligibility.

Many states and colleges also use FAFSA data to award their own aid.

Is the FAFsa required for high school graduation?

Beginning with the 2024-2025 school year, new state law in Oklahoma requires students to complete and submit the FAFSA in order to graduate from high school.

A parent/guardian or student (over 18)  may choose to opt out of this requirement by completing this state provided

OPT OUT FORM. The completed form should be turned into the SHS Counseling Office.

For more information about the new requirements check out these Frequently  Asked Questions.
