Todhunter Named Highland Park Assistant Principal

(Stillwater, Oklahoma, 5/13/2025) — Brooke Todhunter will serve as the next assistant principal of Highland Park Elementary beginning this fall. She joins Principal Becky Dyson—currently serving as assistant principal—who will assume the lead role following the retirement of longtime principal Laura Gordon at the end of the school year.

A Stillwater native and Richmond Elementary alumna, Todhunter earned her bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education Social Studies from Oklahoma State University. She taught for three years in Mustang before returning to her hometown in 2019. Since then, she has taught 6th and 7th grade World Studies at Stillwater Middle School. She recently completed a master’s degree in Education Administration from Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

“I am incredibly excited to serve in this new role!” says Todhunter. “I feel very prepared thanks to all those at SMS and SPS who have taught and mentored me. I truly believe that with the right support and encouragement, every student can be successful. I am so looking forward to helping the team at Highland Park support and encourage students.”

After years of helping students grow and thrive in the classroom, Todhunter pursued principal certification to expand her impact—serving not only students, but also fellow educators.

“What excites me most about being an assistant principal is the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with students, staff, and families,” she says. “I feel honored to become a part of the Highland Park team and join them in their mission to make students feel loved, seen, and successful.”

Todhunter says her passion for public education and community service was inspired by her father, longtime Stillwater Junior High educator Brett Stokes. She and her husband Brandon, who teaches physical education at Westwood, have a daughter, Teagan, in Pre-K, and a two-year-old son, Tyson.

“We are thrilled to welcome Brooke to our HP school family,” says Dyson. “She brings a passion for education and a strong commitment to student success. I am confident her leadership will help us continue to build a collaborative and supportive school environment.”
