Virtual Learning
Our goal is for every student to experience personal growth and mastery of course-level objectives while experiencing a flexible schedule and connection to a caring community.
- Learn from some of the best virtual curricula
- Edgenuity will remain as the primary learning management system for secondary. The elementary curriculum is created by SPS instructions to align with the district.
- SPS teachers will create, blend, vet, modify, and rewrite lessons to improve student learning and experiences.
- Content may be delivered via Seesaw, Google Classroom, or Canvas in a few cases.
- Monitor your progress
- Online tools make it easy for teachers, parents, and students themselves to make sure they are maintaining a rate of work that will allow them to complete the course at the appropriate pace.
- Work nearly exclusively online or with some in-person experiences
- Students will be able to complete nearly the entirety of their experience virtually.
- Some classes may require in-person experiences at the SPVA building.
- Certain courses, like performing arts, may not have virtual alternatives available. SPVA students will be able to enroll in in-person classes in these cases.
- Students will check out a Chromebook and pay the fee during enrollment.
Extracurricular Activities and More
A great thing about participating in the Stillwater Pioneer Virtual Academy over other virtual learning options is access to the resources and programs of Stillwater Public Schools.
- Participate in SPS co-curricular and extracurricular activities like performing arts classes, athletics, and school dances.
- SPS school libraries access
- Special services support such as speech, occupational, and physical therapy
Stillwater Pioneer Virtual Academy Building
To enhance online lessons, the Stillwater Pioneer Virtual Academy building will feature in-person experiences. SPVA teachers will also be housed in this physical location.
- Students will have opportunities for interaction with their teachers and peers.
- Occasional small group/individual learning sessions and activities
- Hands-on science labs
- In-person testing
- Open daily during school hours
- Students will be able to complete their online lessons at SPVA during designated times.
- On-site meals can be arranged
- Transportation services available
- After-school tutoring hours may be available.
- Optional social opportunities
Commitments
Virtually learning isn’t for everyone. Stillwater Pioneer Virtual Academy students must dedicate themselves to the commitment of online learning.
- An in-person or virtual enrollment/orientation session
- Commit to at least one full semester/term
- At semester/term changes, students can remain virtual or switch to traditional learning.
- Students will be given a drop period (3 school days for 10th-12th grade, 10 school days for PK-9th). at the beginning of the semester/term.
- Weekly virtual or in-person meetings with their SPS Teacher
- (Grades 6-12) - One-on-one meetings to discuss progress and learning plans.
- (1-5) - Small group or one-on-one sessions
