2023 Summer Academies & Camps

SPS Summer Academy and other summer programs are open to all SPS students, but the district will reserve space for those who could most benefit from the Summer Academies. If enrollment exceeds available spaces, a waiting list will be created, and SPS will try to accommodate those requests.
- Transportation will be provided by the district to and from the programs.

All programs are free to participants, with the exception of Driver's Education.

deadCenter University
June 8-9
Free program offered to 80 HS students June during the deadCenter Film Festival. Students will learn the the basic principles of filmmaking through interactive sessions with industry professionals. -
OSU - Camp Colvin

OSU - Discover Architecture
The “DISCOVER ARCHITECTURE” summer workshop introduces the fields of Architecture and Architectural Engineering to potential university students through academic projects that are designed to stimulate creativity… and be fun! For the summer of 2023, students are invited to campus for an in-person residential workshop. Through a series of hands on projects that the students complete under the guidance of faculty, participants can begin to understand if a career in the building arts might be right for them. The program is offered by Oklahoma State University faculty with assistance of current university students, and offers interactions with alumni working in the field.

OSU - Greenwood School of Music Summer Music Institute
The GSM Summer Music Institute is designed as specific intensives focused on studio classes, masterclasses, workshops, and private lessons.

OSU - Horticulture Youth Camps
Plants and Bugs Day Camp is Junior Master Gardener plus Bug Zoo fun! One full week from 9 am to 3 pm of garden and bug activities such as racing a termite, collecting bugs, basket weaving, nature walks, and eating snacks of fruit and veggie sampling! Activities are geared for ages 9 through 12. Camp fee includes supplies, snacks as well as two adult helpers to keep youth safe and busy. Kids love camp because it's fun and entertaining. All camps are located at the Insect Adventure (directions), and youth must bring their own lunch. No microwave or refrigerator are available.

OSU - Sports Media Camp
"The Oklahoma State University Sports Media Summer Camp offers practical experience in broadcasting play-by-play, production and print journalism with experienced professors and professionals such as Dave Hunziker, the voice of the OSU Cowboys.
Activities
Daily activities will center on preparation, practice and opportunities to use newly acquired skills in actual sports media events. Campers are scheduled to work a live sporting event while learning the basics of play-by-play. Each camper will also have the opportunity to experience sports reporting for both broadcast and print media." -
OSU Athletics Camps
"Oklahoma State camps are committed to providing a balanced learning environment that is both challenging and fun. Our desire is that you improve your knowledge and skills as a result of your participation in the camp. Not only do we want you to improve throughout your time with us, but more importantly, we want you to be able to take things home with you that will continue to help you improve your game. Our camps feature successful and experienced staffs using world class facilities."

Including "On-Campus Experience" camps for for grades 6-12, featuring stays in the university residence halls.
