(Stillwater, Oklahoma, September 13, 2023) Stillwater Public Schools is proud to announce that the Oklahoma Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance has named Sangre Ridge Elementary School’s Sarah Ehrlich as OAHPERD's Oklahoma Health Education Teacher of the Year.

OAHPERD, which is affiliated with national and regional associations of Society of Health and Physical Education of America (SHAPE America), is composed of professionals affiliated with public and private elementary and secondary schools, colleges and universities and recreation and dance centers. Serving people of all ages and abilities from early childhood to senior citizens, its mission is to promote the organization of school, community and state programs of health, physical education, recreation and dance.

Health educators like Ehrlich are a particularly vital part of communities as they work with children to establish active lifestyles from an early age. Focusing on the importance of physical activity and health helps students live longer, healthier lives.

“We were incredibly proud, but not at all surprised, to hear that Sarah had received this honor,” said Superintendent Uwe Gordon. “She’s long been a dynamic, consistent, energetic physical education teacher. She and the team at Sangre that support her do great things for our students.”

Ehrlich will be honored on Monday, October 2 at the general session of OAHPERD’s Convention.
