Helping "One Student At A Time", Everyday-2023 October Newsletter
Welcome to the first Lincoln Academy Newsletter! We've started this newsletter to keep you connected with what’s happening at Lincoln. Here’s a few of the fun things from this school year so far and how you can get involved.
Start of School
Our school year has started fast and furious with Lincoln, Our Daily Bread and Simmons Bank partnering to provide freezer bags for our students. This will allow our students to take frozen and cold food products home in a safe way. School hasn’t been all just work, we had a lot of fun dressing up for our Back to School Howdy Week.
Lincoln students are involved
Lincoln students are involved in FCCLA, theater, Turning Point Ranch, Dogs of Lincoln, Salvation Army, Meridian, college tours and are learning life skills such as how to change a tire, jumpstart a car and how to fill out a job application. They are also working hard in the classroom completing their graduation requirements and preparing for life after high school. Here's Mrs. Fowler and her science class completing an experiment looking at germs and bacteria.
Lincoln Students tour the State Capitol
Mr. Petermann's social studies students got to tour the State Capitol and go to the top of the Capitol Rotunda. Thank you to State Representative John Talley for talking with our students about how our State government works and helping with the tour.
Lincoln Students attend UCO Invest in Girls Day
Mrs. Harnly and Mrs. Buss took 21 students to UCO Invest in Girls Day. The students learned leadership, financial concepts and connected them with professional women role models.
September Students of the Month and NOC Tour
September Students of the Month celebrating and eating breakfast at Boomerang. These students had great attendance, great behavior and are making progress towards graduation. Many of our students are interested in going to college and five of them got to tour Northern Oklahoma College (NOC) in Stillwater. They had a great time learning more about the opportunities NOC has to offer.
Opportunities for friends to get involved
During the coming year, there will be many opportunities to get involved and support our students. Please contact the Main Office if you are interested in helping with caps and gowns for our graduating seniors, helping with art supplies or gift cards to Hobby Lobby for supplies, bicycles, musical instruments (specifically guitars) or donating to our Friends Of Lincoln fund. Our Friends of Lincoln fund helps pay for classroom contest prizes, fun student activities and student field trips. If you would like to receive this newsletter, please email [email protected]. Our motto is helping "One Student at a Time", every day.
