SPS Staff and Families,

Great things are happening in SPS!

Hargis Leadership Partnership

SJHS and the Hargis Institute are beginning an ongoing partnership. Recently, SJHS STUCO officers Katherine Waits, Abigail Rice, Sophia Jahanshahi, Carch Webber, & Dawson Hazzard attended the institute at OSU, learning parliamentary procedures & how to work effectively as a leadership team. Future activities include planned November visits by OSU leadership students to present 8th and 9th graders with lessons in leadership initiative and efficacy.

Sneaker Drive

Family Support Services Sneaker drive continues until October 4. Donate new or very gently used shoes for those in need. All sizes are welcome, but there is a particular need for women's sizes 5-10 and men's sizes 8-13. Drop off locations, any SPS school, Stillwater Medical Center, Stillwater Pediatrics, Total Health on Perkins, and Brown’s Shoe Fit.

Opioid Rescue

Thank you to Curtis Cormell and Ashly Taylor from the Iowa Tribe’s Perkins Family Clinic for meeting with SPS staff members Nurse David Coates and Substance Abuse Counselor Rachel Roberts for preliminary conversations about an opioid awareness program at our secondary schools and for providing SHS with an opioid rescue kit. We hope we never need it, but it’s a welcome addition.

Of Note..

  • Thank you!

    • First United Methodist Church for an incredibly generous donation of $4,300 to SPS Family Support Services!

    • Pioneer Playday participants for raising more than $30,000 for SPS Athletics.

    • Celebration of Education participants for raising more than $30,000 towards SPEF’s efforts to support our kid’s learning.

  • An Electric Conductor

    • Assistant Band Director Megan Perkins already has a slew of honors to her name and now has been selected to co-present at the prestigious Midwest Clinic International Band, Orchestra and Music Conference. This conference is attended annually by more than 18,000 musicians from all 50 states and more than 30 countries! Learn more.

  • SHS Performing Arts Calendar

  • Prowl, Run, and Dance!

    • Highland Park Panther Prowl, Richmond Rocket Run, and the Sangre Ridge Dance-a-thon fundraisers are coming soon. These sorts of activities are great ways for our young students to get involved in fundraising and promote an active, healthy lifestyle. Be sure to donate to your favorite young Pioneers so they can reach their goals; I understand pizza and ice cream parties are on the line for some classes. (Joyous celebrations with tasty treats are part of a healthy lifestyle too!)

  • Teacher of the Game

Two weeks until fall break!

I love Stillwater,
