Opened in 1990, Richmond is SPS's Northernmost school. Originally the Wranglers, Richmond became the Rockets and have been flying high ever since! In 2022, Richmond was named a model Great Expectations school for the 19th year in a row.

Cawood is a Stillwater High School graduate, with bachelor's degrees from Oklahoma State in History and Education as well as a masters in Curriculum and Leadership Studies
Joy Cawood
Since 2012 Joy Cawood has served the district in a variety of roles – Gifted and Talented Coordinator, Instructional Coach, and Assistant Principal at Richmond, Assistant Principal at Skyline, Technology Integration Coordinator for the district, and Principal of the Stillwater Pioneer Virtual Academy.
“It is an absolute honor to be named Richmond’s newest principal,” says Cawood. “As a first grade student at Richmond on the day it opened, I know what a special place it is. My teachers from those years had an incredible impact on my journey, and I still hold such fond memories of them and days spent at Richmond as a student. I’ve also had the joy of being a staff member and working alongside the teachers, families, and students that call Richmond home today. It’s a wonderful place with a rich tradition.”
